Relic Stolen from Fresno Church

The thieves broke stained glass windows at the Shrine of St. in Fresno's Tower District to get into the church.

They stole brass candlesticks and even tore brass clips from the priest’s robes. 

But the biggest loss is a two foot tall gold cross.

It used to sit in a wooden shadow box. It was given to the church by the Vatican more than 55 years ago.

In the center of the cross, according to the Vatican, is a piece of the cross on which Jesus was crucified. 

Fresno police are investigating the break-in.
