With record highs in the weekend forecast, this PG & E crew is preparing for the extreme weather.
"They are constantly hydrating, constantly drinking water, they are also trying to put on lots of sunscreen, wearing hats if necessary if they are in extreme heat," said Jeff Smith with Pacific Gas and Electric.
This driver learned the hard way that her vehicle wasn't ready for the heat.
"My car couldn't hack it. I don't even think it is going to start now," said Elaine Rodriguez.
For elephants at the Chaffee Zoo a good old fashioned hose provided the relief they were looking for. Zoo keepers say triple digit temperatures can be dangerous for many of their animals.
"We provide them with a lot of misting systems so there will be a nice cool foggy mist coming down over them. We will also provide them with fans to move air around and actually combine the two top create a flow of cool moist warm air flowing around the exhibits," said Mark Halborsan with Fresno Chaffe Zoo.
The City ofFresno also opened its cooling centers for any people stuck in the heat. City officials say they will remain open through the weekend.
