Park visitor swept over fall at Yosemite

Park rangers say the water the man was swimming in appeared calm but it's dangerously deceptive.

It was supposed to be a church getaway, a trip to Yosemite National Park, but the trip ended with tragedy when 19-year-old Aleh Kalmen decided to swim near Nevada Fall, 150 feet away from the precipice.

Park spokesperson Kari Cobb said, "He actually got swept away in the current and unfortunately he got swept downstream and over the waterfall."

Crews searched for Kalmen but say it's unlikely he survived the fall. "Nevada Fall is a 600 foot fall and there's no way someone can survive a fall like that," said Cobb.

Park rangers say they can't monitor every inch of the park, so it's up to the visitors to keep themselves out of dangerous situations.
