Fire crews were put to the test in Northwest Fresno Sunday afternoon.
A Pickup caught fire at an apartment complex near Fruit and Ashlan.
The flames spread to a palm tree, which climbed to the top of the tree and jumped to the roof of the second story unit.
Fire crews say controlling the blaze was made more difficult because of the hot afternoon temperatures.
Battalion Chief Ron Stogell with the Fresno Fire Department said, "As you can see it was an extremely hot day, firefighters are really challenged in this heat. Extra crews were added and every person was utilized. The efficiency of the firefighter with the bulk of these turnouts (gear) on is greatly diminished whenever we have outside temperatures in the 100's."
Crews were able to confine the damage to the second floor of the apartment building.
No firefighters or residents were injured.
