Sheriff Margaret Mims is in close communication with the local FBI Office.  So far, no increased terror alerts have been issued for Fresno County.

Sheriff Mims says even though the attack happened far away, the best defense locally is preparation.

She's been keeping in close contact with our local FBI Office and the county office of emergency service is also issuing updates on the attack. She said we shouldn't worry locally. The important thing is managing the information that comes in. Sheriff Mims adds the best thing is preparedness and feels the department is on the right track. They've been holding recent trainings to increase communication.

"To make sure that all of our radios function, we can talk to each other, so that if we do have a major incident here we can manage that most importantly by being able to talk to each other," said Fresno County Sheriff, Margaret Mims.

Sheriff Mims said she'll be paying close attention to any new information released.
Moving forward, she said the next step would be to hold practice exercises that would help them better react if ever an attack were to hit home.

"As this gets triaged and investigated and more information comes out, every time we have an incident like this it teaches us more about how to be better prepared," said Sheriff Mims.

Sheriff Mims will continue to stay in close contact with our local FBI Office to make security changes if needed.
