Local air travel uninterrupted

The blasts in Boston caused slight disruptions in air travel Monday.  Boston's LoganAirport was on a ground stop for about an hour.  There was also a no fly zone over the finish line.  Meanwhile, our local airport maintained regular security levels.

A chilling scene in Boston shocked Americans on Monday.  Jasmine Perkins watched the news unfold on T.V., then had to board an airplane to fly home to Denver.

“I actually work for T.S.A., so knowing the history of what happened and why I have the job that I have, it makes me scared to fly because if this happened today, and it could happen at anytime anywhere,” said Perkins.

Air travel was slightly impacted in the east, but Fresno's airport simply maintained a standard level of security.

“There are security methods that are practiced on a daily basis here at the airport to ensure the safety and security of the passengers traveling through the airport,” Vikkie Calderon, public relations officer for the airport.

One frequent flyer said if other travelers were worried, he didn't notice.  He simply trusts airport staff.

“As long as, like I said, T.S.A. does their job, I think we should be ok,” said Lessley Deshotel, who traveled to Fresno for business.

But the feelings of one T.S.A. worker shows that flying may still be a nerve-wracking ordeal.

“Being thousands of feet in the air, it makes a difference because you have no where to go but down,” said Perkins.

No flights in or out of Fresno were directly impacted by the events in Boston.
