Dollar by dollar, teachers, classmates and friends collected donations. Money that they hope will help the Guiba family as they prepare to lay to rest three children and their son's girlfriend. All four died last week when their car was hit by a suspected drunk driver as they headed home from an afternoon at the lake.
"They were just the nicest people. They didn't have problems with anyone and they tried to help as much as they could," said Dinuba Freshman Jose Pano.
Pano grew up with the Guiba family and remembers them never hesitating to help the needy in their community. When he heard about the accident he along with many of his classmates and teachers new they had to do something.
"We can't do anything to bring them back but we are doing our part. We are trying to do whatever we can to support them," said Dinuba Teacher Monserrat Meza.
