A couple attacks happened within a few minutes of each other Wednesday night.
The first one happened outside a liquor store off Home and Van Ness.
Police say a well known auto thief stabbed a man next to his heart.
They arrested the suspect at his relative's house.
Fifteen minutes earlier, police responded to a call where a man and woman were attacked outside a café nearby. A man tried stealing the woman's laptop; he then smashed a bottle over the man's head.
The incidents are unrelated but police say they highlight a reality: troublemakers are getting busier.
“Busy night all over; was in Southeast earlier…served a search warrant, got guns. And earlier at standoff; so busy day throughout
The stabbing victim was recovering at Community Regional Medical Center, and is expected to make it.
They say he's been arrested at least eight times this year alone - mainly for stealing cars.
