In the world of designated driving, Alex French can be considered a first responder and an affordable one at that.
“We are thirty dollars with a coupon compared to 10,000 dollars and possible jail time," said French.
A deal he believes many people will be taking advantage of this weekend. He and about twenty other Sober Guys drivers will be on call to take home anyone unable to drive.
"Somebody will call in, we'll give them an estimated time when we will be there and they dispatch a ride," said French.
Last year Sober Guys had about eighty calls on St. Patrick’s day and they anticipate even more this year.
And if safety alone isn't incentive enough, DUI checkpoints will be set up all across the valley this weekend, with officers cracking down on drunk drivers.
"We run checkpoints for several reasons. We do it mostly to educate the public about how dangerous drinking under the influence is and we also do them to prevent DUIs,” said Sgt. Anthony Dewall.
