More than a day after a gas line under Shaw was first punctured by a contractor, repair work continued as nearby businesses tried their best to make up lost business.

"We got shut down about nine in the morning with the power and the road and our whole driveway and everything," said Swiggs Kitchen Manager Jessica Payton.

Swiggs Kitchen Manager Jessica Payton is hoping Saint Patrick's Day will help balance out what the gas leak cost them on Friday. Initially construction crews were optimistic Shaw would be completely open by Saturday morning, but the damage to the gas line proved to be more complex than they originally thought.

"Unfortunately were they hit there was both a distribution gas line and a transmission line right in the same area, so we had to dig around both of them," said PG&E spokesman Jeff Smith.

After some extra digging, the transmission line was determined to be the one leaking and crews worked through the night on Friday to fix the leak allowing for the east bound lanes of Shaw to reopen Saturday morning, a welcome sign for drivers already worn down by delays.

"I'm actually really relieved because the construction is really taking a lot of time," said driver Maria Corona.
