Three people were killed in a crash on Highway 152 and Road 16 near Chowchilla Tuesday morning.
The accident involved 3 big rigs and 2 cars in foggy conditions just before 8:00 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol says visibility was between 100 and 200 feet because of fog.
The CHP says an eastbound big rig was in a turn lane on Highway 152 at Road 16 and rolled a window down to listen for traffic because of low visibility.
When he made the turn, another big rig heading west clipped the rear of the turning truck and also hit a car waiting at the stop sign.
The westbound truck overturned, spilling hay bails all over the roadway.
A third big rig, heading westbound, swerved to avoid the collision and crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a Honda Accord head-on, killing the 3 people inside.
The victims, a man and two women, were all from the San Jose area.
The other victims of the crash were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
