It's a time when holiday shoppers are busy scrambling to find a good deal, but it's also a time when they can become careless and vulnerable to theft.

Which is why Fresno law enforcement officers want their presence to be known this holiday season, to help put a "stop" to thieves.

" Bicycle patrols and sky watchers, eagle one will be flying above Fresno," Jerry Dyer Police Chief says.

Shoppers have to do their part as well, there are some things to remember; first on the list? Never shop alone.

" Members of 2 or 3 are less likely to be victimized," Jerry Dyer said.

Also be aware of your surroundings, park in well lit areas to avoid becoming a victim and have your keys ready before you walk back to your car.

" I don't ever shop at night. I do most of it during the day," Suzanne Carr said.

If anytime you're not feeling safe at the mall, there are enough police officers around to express your concerns.
" You know somebody is paying attention for your benefit," Tru Canaday said.

Bottom line, police officers want people to have no fear when it comes to shopping and re assure everyone that if the police officers don't catch the bad guys, there's always a surveillance camera that sees everything.
