Casa Corona, the Fresno establishment that's been around since 1999 and is family owned by three siblings, is expanding.

"Casa corona is an oade to my mother and grandmother, corona being their maiden names," said Armando Rodriguez, one of the owners.

A second location of the California-Mexican cuisine restaurant opened this week in Northwest Fresno at Bullard and West. "When you offer great service, and you have a great product, I think that's what kept us thorugh the hard times," said Rodriguez.

With unemployment at 15.7% in Fresno County in the month of November, the fact that business is good for Casa Corona, is also good for the Valley's economy. Fifty employees were hired for the new restaurant and there are still 20 open positions including cooks, bartenders, servers and bussers.

"Fresno County is agriculture based, so anytime you get any type of other industries that hire, whether it be retail or manufacturing in this case leisure and hospitality, that's a good thing," said Steven Gutierrez, with Fresno's Employement Development Department.

With Mexican folk art decorating the walls and art from Arizona regulars of the of the first restaurant say this location is sure to be a hit too.

Paul Epp enjoyed traditional albondigas, Mexican meatball soup, "The steak fajitas is what I usually eat, but I was trying to cut back a little bit. But you can see how big the bowl is, I don't think I'm cutting back too much."

If you'd like to apply you can do so in person at the restaurants new location 1724 W. Bullard in Fresno.
