UPDATE:
The death toll continues to rise in a workplace shooting that happened this morning at a centralFresno meatpacking plant.
Three people have died including the gunman, identified as 42-year-old Lawrence Jones.
The shooting took place at around8:20am at Valley Protein at 1869 E. Hedges in Fresno .
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer held a press conference just before2pm today where he released more information about both the shooter and the victims.
The first person to be shot was 32-year-old Salvador Diaz, he died at the scene.
The second person to be shot was Manuel Verdin, he died at the hospital.
The third person to be shot was Arnulfo Conrriquez, he is in critical condition at the hospital.
Fatima Lopez was shot in the buttocks area as she ran away.
Lopez is expected to be released from the hospital some time Tuesday evening.
There was a fifth victim, Esteban Catano.
Chief Dyer says the shooter put the gun to Catano’s head, but when he pulled the trigger he realized he was out of bullets.
The shooter then walked out of the building, reloaded, then shot and killed himself.

Fresno police are on the scene of a workplace shooting involving five people, including the suspected gunman.
Fresno Police Chief held a news conference shortly after 10:00 a.m. to confirm the reports that the shooting happened inside Apple Valley Farms on Hedges, near Blackstone and Olive.
The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. and about 30 employees of Apple Valley Farms witnessed the shootings.
After the shootings, the suspect walked outside the business and shot himself. Chief Dyer reported the gunman is in critical condition with a gunshot to the head.
The suspect is 42-year-old Lawrence Jones, an employee of the company for the past 14 months.
The victims are a 32-year-old female who was shot in the lower back outside the business, a 34-year-old male employee in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, a 28-year-old male employee shot in the neck inside the building, listed in critical condition, and a 32-year-old male employee who died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Jones showed up to work about 5:00 a.m. and according to one coworker, did not appear to be himself.
About 3 1/2 hours later, Jones pulled out a handgun and opened fire on his coworkers.
Investigators are trying to determine what led to the shootings.
The names of the victims have not been released but Chief Dyer provided a number for family members of employees of Apple Valley to call for information. The number is 559-621-2463.
