Our recent dry winter has valley firefighters on alert.
The lack of rain in California has led to one of the driest winters on record.
That's according to the department of water resources.
The drier than normal winter, coupled with high wind and low humidity have increased the fire danger over the past month.
So for safety Cal Fire has banned burn days.
"We have suspended all hazard reduction burning in Eastern and Western Fresno County and also Kings County," said John Dominguez, Cal Fire, Fire Captain.
Cal Fire says in the month of December, fire fighters responded to an increased number of brush fires in Fresno County alone.
"In the month of December alone we had 39 vegetation fires. 20 of those were a cause of hazard reduction. Escaped control burn," said Dominguez.
