As this young boy proudly holds a “United We Stand Poster,” his parents look on saying this is why they came to America, educating their children about the freedoms and opportunities we have in the United States.

“It's a country for opportunities and I want my kids to grow and go to the Universities and have a good chance at life,” said Miguel Lopez.

Hundreds shut down Fresno Street Tuesday evening for May Day which typically is a day to celebrate workers but many of these folks want changes in government. And they're protesting a variety of issues.

“The 99-percent of us are suffering,” said Dan Yaseen, Peace Fresno.

In other cities streets were also shut down as protesters clashed with police. In Fresno it was a peaceful rally, then a march through downtown, and wrapping the event up with speakers trying to motivate people to stimulate change.

“My family was immigrants and it's just bad the way they want to treat them you know?" said a demonstrator.
