Thief Targets the Elderly

It happened in Fresno at the Save Mart Grocery Store on First Street near Bullard.

Police have released surveillance video of the crime.

It shows the suspect following the 90 year old woman into the store.

When she wasn't looking he stole her purse, he then used the keys in her purse to steal her Honda CRV which was parked in the parking lot.

Lt. Burke Farrah of the Fresno PD says, “What makes this crime truly reprehensible is the age of the victim. He clearly selected her because of her advanced age. He takes advantage of her vulnerability. So what he doesn’t realize at this time is that there is a second offense called elder abuse in the State of California and if he is convicted of elder abuse, he is going to do state prison time as a result of this theft.”

The car and the suspect are still missing. The victim’s car is a 2002 gold Honda CRV like this one seen here. It has a California license plate of 5POF008.

The suspect is described in his early 20's. He's about five ten to six feet tall with a medium build.
