CBS47 is learning more about the suspects accused of killing a two-month-old baby in Visalia. The mother, Jennifer Granberg, and her boyfriend, Christopher Harris, both 25, were arrested Sunday night on homicide charges. Police found the baby, Alexander Xavier Frett dead and with severe burns from hot water. The exact cause of death has not been released from the Tulare County coroner's office, but an autopsy was performed Monday afternoon.
A woman who lives next door to the home where officers found the baby, shudders thinking about the tragedy. She saw officers carry him out of the home on Sunday night.
"I'm still getting goose bumps," said Virginia Miranda.
Visalia police say baby Alexander had been dead for a while when police were called to the home Sunday afternoon.
"The information that was provided to investigators was inconsistent with the injuries on the two-month-old male," said Sgt. Amy Watkins of the Visalia Police Department.
Harris's family-member provided CBS47 this picture, but she did not want to speak on-camera. Police say the couple had just moved to Visalia several months ago and had only lived in the home where baby Alexander died for a few days.
Police aren't commenting on whether drugs were involved, but neighbors are drawing their own conclusions.
"There's something wrong with them in the head, first of all, and second of all they need help. They shouldn't even be on these streets," said one neighbor, Gabe Almaguer.
Another neighbor, Virginia Miranda, who has an infant of her own, says Harris had some king of a panic attack outside on Sunday night, but Granberg showed no emotion before being arrested.
"I'd be hysterical, crying, some kind of emotion. If anything, they just looked tired; like they were up all night," said Miranda.
