The controversy continues, some parents are sticking-up for the Selma teacher who showed her 3rd grade students the controversial documentary Kony 2012. The film is about an African warlord who is accused of doing horrific things to children.

Although the school district won't confirm what action has been taken, parents say the teacher was removed from class during an investigation after showing her 3rd grade students a controversial film called Kony 2012.

"I believe this has caused more of a disruption than viewing the video, the students, my son has been upset, not wanting to go to school," said Coreen Cano, parent.

But there's no denying the films graphic images and many parents felt it was too mature for 8-year olds to watch. A letter was sent out to parents by the school district on Friday. In part it says, Roosevelt School and the District apologize for any disturbance this has created for your student and family. Crystal Brightwell is upset and says her daughter isn't the same since watching the film.

"She doesn't want to leave anyone's side, she's sleeping with her sister and so I'm hoping that she gets over it soon cause kids are resilient," said Brightwell.

Other parents said the teacher didn't show the film in its entirety and that the teacher was trying to make a point about how one person can make a difference in the world.

"The students saw what the teacher felt was appropriate and everything else was censored," said Jim Barnes, grandparent.

All of the parents agree the teacher should have sent a consent form to parents before showing the film.
