Night owls can see the Blood Moon Monday night when a lunar eclipse occurs around midnight.
The lunar eclipse will begin at 10:58 pm PDT when the moon passes into the Earth's partial shadow called the penumbra.
At 12:07 am the Earth's umbra, or true shadow, will begin covering the moon.
That phase of the eclipse will turn the moon an orange or copper color until the eclipse ends at 1:25 am Tuesday.
Some say the color looks more dark red like blood, giving rise to the name Blood Moon.
This also marks what's known as a Tetrad, or four total lunar eclipses in a row with six full moons in between.
The dates of the next full lunar eclipses are: October 8, 2014, April 8, 2015, and September 28, 2015.
