In Madera County, a case of vandalism is now under investigation as a hate crime after a vandal targeted a Hispanic family.
A car parked in the driveway of a home on Avenue 17 was vandalized sometime between Sunday night and early Monday morning.
A bowling ball marked with a Swastika, SS bolts, and a vulgar and racist message, had been thrown at the family’s car.
The swastika is recognized as a universal hate sign. Knowing that it has been used as a contemporary calling card by neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups, the Sheriff’s Office is calling this act of vandalism a hate crime.
Anyone who has any information about this vile act, or the person behind it, is urged to call the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
