Bees are busy in the valley. Citrus trees are blooming early, providing much needed pollen for honey production. Honey production has been extremely low this year due to viruses and a lack of rainfall. Many beekeepers have been trying to rebuild their colonies and for some, this could be the only honey crop for the year. David Bradshaw with Bradshaw Honey Farms says next year could be even worse in places like Terra Bella where trees are drying up. He says beekeepers will likely move their bees to places where there is water and healthy trees but that could lead to oversaturated orchards.
