Californians may soon have a more convenient way to buy lottery tickets.
The Lottery Commission held a hearing today regarding a project that would allow people to purchase lottery tickets while pumping gas.
The pilot program would take place at more than 100 gas stations in Sacramento and Los Angeles .
Customers would have to purchase gas before buying lottery tickets at the pump.
They would have the option to purchase quick picks such as Mega Millions, Powerball, and Super Lotto Plus.
Last year, the California Lottery made about four and half billion dollars in lottery sales.
This year, they're hoping to make five billion.
The play-at-the-pump will only take debit or credit cards.
Players who win anything less than 600 dollars will have that money placed directly onto the winners debit or credit card.
The new lotto feature begins this august.
