stop.
"There was one person in the Pontiac and there was at least five people in the Tahoe," said CHP Sgt. Joseph Bianchi.
According to firefighters, one of them, a 9-year-old boy did not survive.
The driver of the Pontiac also died in the fiery crash.
"As I was responding I did hear that one of the vehicles was on fire," said Bianchi.
Nearly an hour later, rescuers were still working to free a man and a woman from the SUV with the Jaws of Life.
Rescuers say two brothers of the boy killed, 5 and 7-year-olds, managed to get out of the SUV before first responders arrived.
One of the survivors was trying to take cover from the rain while being loaded into an ambulance.
A woman who lives nearby pulled over and paced around the scene, worried that her own child could be involved.
People gathered at the scene were using dirt and water to put the fire out.
The victims have not yet been identified.
