An investigation is underway in Fresno County after a house catches fire and kills a man inside.  The fire broke out around 12:45 Tuesday afternoon on Adams Avenue, southwest of Easton.

A person driving by called 911.  When firefighters arrived, the house was not only engulfed in flames, but several rounds of ammunition were going off from bullets that were being stored inside.  Luckily, nobody was struck by any of those bullets.

Once crews got to work, they chose to use foam to fight this fire, rather than water.

“It leaves less water damage within the building.  That foam does an amazing job of concentrating and then seeping in to eliminate any hot spots.  As it expands and spreads it helps get into the nooks and crannies of the building,” said Captain Ryan Michaels of Cal Fire - Fresno Co. Fire.

This fire also killed two cats.  As for the name of the man who died, that’s not being released until the Fresno Co. Coroner’s Office can notify his family.
He was home alone at the time, but there’s no word on whether he had any sort of disability that may have prevented him from escaping.

Investigators say as of right now the cause of this fire appears to be an accident.  No foul play is suspected.
