The anticipation has been growing for a week now. Friday, President Obama will land in Fresno for the first time ever and Thomas Garza may have one of the best views around.
Fresno auto body shop employee Thomas Garza says, " It's going to be pretty cool, you know it's the President. I mean, it's pretty exciting."
Garza works right across the street from the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. He says he'll be keeping a close eye on the sky and watching out for Air Force One.
"I've seen it on TV but I've never seen it in person so we'll see. I mean it's a huge plane," says Garza.
On that plane, President Obama will be joined by Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Diane Feinstein and Congressman Jim Costa.
After landing at FYI, the president is expected to board Marine One and head to an undisclosed location on the west side.
The FAA says they will be two restricted flying areas. From 2 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. at Fresno Yosemite International Airport and from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in an area west of Firebaugh and south of Los Banos. Private pilots are restricted from flying in those areas during those times, but commercial flights will be uninterrupted.
Thursday, a small group got a rare glimpse inside cutting-edge military Osprey aircraft that arrived ahead of the President's visit; a visit that's brewing a lot of excitement, as well as some concern for businesses nearby.
Holiday Pools manager Julie Morgan says, "I don't really care about it too much. More concerned about the traffic and if we're going to be able to get to work."
No official road closures have been announced at this time.
