Each week KSEE 24 News honors a teacher in the valley who's making a difference in the lives of their students and this week we visit Monroe Elementary School in Fresno.
No matter what subject Pam Sherwood is teaching to her first grade class, you can bet she's having a great time.
"Five and 6 year olds are just pure and they love life, they see life through this magic lens of honesty and truth," says Sherwood.
Here at Monroe Elmentary, the classes are small, which Mrs. Sherwood says allows her to get to know her kids very well.
"We're like our own little family here and I think its good for them," she says.
Every day Mrs. Sherwood helps her students develop a lifelong love of books. And just like she makes an impact on her kids so do they on her. Each student a vital part of a unique group of kids Mrs. Sherwood is continually impressed by.
"This class is very sweet mature, they work well together. It's really special."
