The Merced County Sheriff's Office has launched a homicide investigation regarding the death of a 21-year-old Los Banos man.
Olen Bates was found shot to death around 5p.m. Friday in the rural area of Volta Road and I-5 in Merced County.
A passing motorist reported seeing the body.
