Valley Crime Stoppers is getting involved to help track down a stolen classic car that belongs to a fresno man who is dying of cancer.
The rare 1952 Chevy Deluxe was stolen on January 17th.
On Friday, a production crew with the valley's top tip line worked to film a re-enactment. A commercial which will begin airing in the next few weeks.
It portrays burglars entering a vacant building on Lansing Way in southeast Fresno, punching a hole in a sheet rock wall then crawling into the neighboring garage. Once inside, they eventually stole the '52 Chevy Deluxe soft-top convertible.
"Crime Stoppers being anonymous has been an excellent source for information," said Sgt. Chris Desmond of the Fresno Police Dept.
Sergeant Chris Desmond of Fresno Police says it's important to keep this case fresh in the public's mind.
"The more time that elapses, the further away it could potentially get. Whether it's shipped out of the country or cut-up into pieces and hidden all over the place," said Sgt. Desmond.
Ken Colombini spent three years restoring the car to perfection. The 74-year old is now bedridden as he battles an incurable form of prostate cancer.
"The car was never going to be sold because it's part of me," said Ken Colombini, car theft victim.
Colombini planned to leave the car to his daughter after passing away. Ken's son Eric is now constantly on the lookout for this unique automobile.
"It almost feels like a full time job just weighing on top of you," said Eric Colombini, the victim's son.
With any luck, the launch of this crime stoppers ad will either spark some valuable community feedback or a change of heart from thief.
"Hopefully we'll get some help with this and get that car returned," said Sgt. Desmond.
If you can help find this missing car, call Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867). The family is also offering a sizable cash reward.
