High speed rail slow to leave station

It's a sign of the times.

A so-called bullet train connecting San Francisco to Los Angeles in less than a three hour ride.

But when will the train make it to the Central Valley?

"It needs to speed up a bit," said supporter Sidney Muki.

He feels California and the U.S. in general, is way behind the high speed transportation game.

"It's not quite as bas as not having internet but I think as a super power to compete with these countries with our high speed rail," said Muki.

Fresno City Councilman Blong Xiong was among other city leaders meeting with taxpayers Wednesday night.

"This item here is pretty controversial just a little bit and we want to make sure we engage the constituent. Make sure they're input is involved in the entire process," said Xiong.

He said that outweighs the delay in construction.

According to Councilman Steve Brandau, it will be an attractive addition to downtown Fresno.

"Instead of just grey concrete they're going to do colored concrete with stamps in it, designs in it. If there's an overpass, there's going to be room for bicycles," said Brandau.

Samuel Jordan supported the high speed rail in the beginning but changed his mind.

"But now over the last couple of years looking at something different, hearing a whole different story. It went from 30 to 40 to 60 and 70 plus," said Jordan.

The price tag stands at $68 Million in tax payer money.

Still there's no clear date on when this train will roll in to town.
