A woman is alive, thanks to the quick work by firefighters and police.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. Friday morning when the drive of an SUV tried to pull out of a bank parking lot near Shaw and Sixth in Fresno.
The driver struck a woman on a bicycle pinning her beneath the vehicle.
Fresno fire and police were quickly called out and crews worked in tandem to remove the victim safely.
Lt. Burke Farrah with the Fresno Police Department said, "Thanks to the dedicated effort of the Fresno Fire Department, they were able to get on scene and actually rescue this accident victim from being trapped underneath this vehicle. So great job by Fire in getting her out."
The driver pulled out when oncoming traffic was clear but did not see the woman riding on the sidewalk traveling against traffic and wearing headphones.
The victim was awake and conscious when crews transported her to the hospital.
The woman was still recovering in the hospital on Monday.
