The USDA has suspended poultry processing at a north valley Foster Farms plant.

The agency says the plant in Livingston is infested with cockroaches. On Wednesday, cockroaches were observed at a sink across from a processing line with "exposed product" on the slaughterhouse floor.

On Tuesday live cockroaches were found on a plastic tub that came into contact with chicken.

The closure comes three months after Foster Farms was involved in a nationwide Salmonella outbreak.

Foster Farms released a statement saying in part... "A total of five cockroaches were found in our 250-thousand square foot facility in Livingston since September of 2013. The company is aggressively addressed each instance. We are committed to a zero tolerance policy."
