Dry Winter Means Less Water for Growers

The Federal Bureau of Reclamation is issuing it's first water delivery forecast.

Growers on the West side of the Valley will get only 30% of their water allocation.

It's because of our dry winter and a small snowpack in the Sierra.

"Weve only had half the amount of water from rainfall that we would normally have," said Michael Kelley, President and CEO of Central California Almond Growers Association.

Last year the initial water forecast was only 25%, but by April that number was boosted to 80% due to the late rain.

That's what farmers are hoping for this year too.
