Few would deny Chris Brown is very talented. But a few years ago when a picture of his then girlfriend pop star Rihanna surfaced looking like she had just been beaten up, many were left stunned.
"It sends a message that there's no consequences or very little consequences for those types of actions," said Brenda Troubaugh, Domestic Violence Expert.
The brutal attack resulted in a felony conviction, five years of probation and domestic violence counseling. But during his performance at Sunday night's Grammy's something unsettling began to happen. Tweets by young women saying "Chris Brown please beat me," and "Chris Brown could beat me up all he wants." The tweets have domestic violence expert Brenda Troubaugh very concerned.
"What this does is make light of it. Many of these people who did these tweets have never been in that type of situation and really wouldn't put up with it but they look at the celebrity there and want to put themselves in that situation because of the glamour," said Troubaugh.
Grammy's producer stands by the decision to have Chris Brown perform twice and isn't surprised he won a Grammy.
"I just believe people deserve a second chance," said Ken Ehrilich, Grammy Producer.
