Several inches of new snow fell in parts of the valley overnight, including about six inches of fresh snow in and around Shaver Lake.
With school out on a Monday morning, a group of Clovis friends grabbed their sleds for a fun day out in the snow near Shaver Lake.
"We just decided to come up. And we didn't know it was going to snow today, but this was an added bonus," said Brittany Turney, a teacher.
About six inches of new snow fell in the area within a 24 hour period. By early afternoon Monday, several trucks were spotted sliding out on the roads once the flakes picked back up.

Forecasters say another storm is expected to hit the area by mid-week.
Business owners say they welcome the fresh powder after what's been a difficult, dry season.
"The industry's been real slow and it's nice to see the storms," said Spencer Darrell, who works for Ashbrook Enterprises.
Linda Sinks, who owns The Hungry Hut in Shaver Lake, says the only reason many businesses were able to survive is the draining of Shaver Lake. After months of work on the dam, the water is once again on the rise.
"The historic value of what was in the lake and the look of the lake brought a lot of tourists up here. And if it hadn't been for that with no snow, we would not have made it," said Sinks.
