For Guy Anderson not having water is more than an inconvenience, it's a threat to his livelihood.

"If this does continue for this long we may very well have to be shut if not forced shut down by the department of health," said Butch’s Drive In owner Guy Anderson.

Anderson
says Butch's Drive In, a Dos Palos tradition, would lose out on about 2,000 dollars a day if they are forced to shut down. The story is the same all across town where since Saturday hundreds of residents and businesses have been coping with water that is here one minute and gone the next.

"It started about two days ago I got information from our water department that we were having a problem with our filtration system and we weren't able to produce enough water," said Dos Palos Police Chief Barry Mann.

Mann says aging equipment dating to the 1960’s is behind the shortage. The city hopes to have water flowing while repairs are made but is advising residents to boil it first.
