The road was closed in June to construct a pedestrian underpass for the Sugar Pine Trail that crossed the busy Northeast Fresno street.
The underpass is at the site of a deadly accident last July, when 7-year-old Donovan Maldonado was struck and killed.
The City of Fresno says the project was already in the works but had to wait until federal funding was approved.
The roadway is expected to open Friday afternoon but the underpass will not be open until December.
