Residents in west Fresno were the focus of a health fair on Saturday.
It was the first year for the event.
The health department and other community organizations provided information on eating and the importance of exercising.
"The goal is to get out as much information about total health as much as possible. We're trying to help in efforts to reduce certain types of chronic diseases here in Fresno County. Everything from high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, certain types of cancer," says Sabrina Beavers from the Fresno County Health Department.
Resources were also on hand to help residents find work.
Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
