The campaign is officially underway for one Fresno City Council seat.
Businessman Cary Catalano is running for the seat now held by Blong Xiong.
Xiong will be termed out this year and cannot run again.
Catalano and ninety volunteers went door to door in district one in west central Fresno to meet with voters and to find out what their concerns are.
"They have concerns about sidewalks, street lights, public safety. But they're coming up with very innovative ideas. Because what I want people to know is the city can't do it alone. We have to do it together," says Cary Catalano.
So far, there is one other candidate in the race for district one.
Rama Dawar a member of the planning commission in Fresno says he will also run for the seat.
