In Old Town Clovis Friday night the streets were packed as dozens of athletes competed in the 19th annual National Pole Vaulting Championships.
The competition brought pole vaulters from as far away as New Orleans.
The action on the street was a new experience for one athlete from Temecula.
"I've actually never done a street vault but by the looks of it I'm really excited. I watched some videos from the past years it looks really different actually. It's a lot of up close and personal energy," says Tyler Wallace a pole vaulter.
Thirty-two athletes competed this year some hope the competition will be their springboard to the olympics.
