Thousands from around the nation packed both the inside and outside of the arena in Prescott Valley. It's near where the 19 elite Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed in the line of duty.
"I miss my brothers and we're here today to remember them," said Brendan McDonough. He's the lone surviving firefighter from the crew that perished in the Yarnell wildfire a little more than a week ago. He offers prayers for his brothers.
"Lord, bless my hotshot crew, my family...one in all," said McDonough.
A bell sounded for each of the fallen. As thousands of firemen were there to pay tribute, so were four of the Valley's own from Reedley. They said they have built a strong brotherhood through fighting some of the same fires as the fallen.
"We go up and down the state as well fighting wildland fires, we run across these guys occasionally on different fires. We've probably run across these guys in LA a few times," Battalion Chief of the Reedley Fire Department, Tim Garrison.
The firefighters from Reedley were a part of several honor guards from across the state helping with the ceremony.
"It's our honor to come down here and support them and it makes them feel good as well as the family feel good," said Battalion Chief, Garrison.
Honor guards from across the state are requested to help as the first of the 19 funeral services will commence later this week.
