Saved by the Clouds Again

Fresno's temperature was just shy of the daily record high temperature on Tuesday thanks to afternoon cloud cover, but don't expect the same cloudy favor tomorrow.

The high reached 108-degrees Tuesday afternoon leaving intact the record of 110-degrees from 1942.

Without the cloud cover, the temperature was on-track to reach 111-degrees on Tuesday and since there will be more sunshine on Wednesday I expect highs will get closer if not surpass records for the day.

The clouds did help tie the warmest minimum temperature on record for the date which was 78-degrees set in 1924.

Wednesday morning's low will probably set a new record for the date.

The highest recorded temperature in Fresno on July 3 is 110-degrees set in 2001 and my forecast high for the day is 111-degrees.

The Excessive Heat Warning continues below 4,500-feet across central California through Thursday evening so the Independence Day will be a scorcher at 110-degrees.

Cooler air will move in Friday and temperatures will drop by 10-degrees through the weekend.

Forecast highs for Saturday and Sunday will be right around 99-degrees.

The cooler weather won't last long if computer models are right.

They have another ridge of high pressure air pushing high temps back into the triple digits by early next week.
