A shooting investigation turned into a major pot bust in Fresno County.
25,000 marijuana plants were found in a field in the area of Chestnut and Adams Avenue, west of Fowler.
Fresno County sheriff's deputies were called to the area Wednesday when gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles and a man was shot.
He was not cooperating with the investigation and it turned out he had freshly harvested marijuana in his vehicle.
That discovery led officers to the grow site.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said, "So far we have an estimate 25,000 marijuana plants worth over $160 million, if, in fact we believe, if it had been sold on the East Coast."
Deputies found a shotgun and a rifle.
The also say the field was rigged with motion sensors and alarms.
