During the discussion, the hospital worker learned that someone might be in trouble at his apartment, so they called it in to police. Officers responded to check on the welfare of a man.
"Officers got a key from the manager to go into the apartment and there they found a man's body on the floor," said Janet Stoll-Lee of the Clovis Police Dept.
The man, whose name and age are not being released right now, was covered with a blanket.
"The man had been stabbed multiple times," said Stoll-Lee.
Police say he went to the apartment Friday morning to visit his former friend, that being the 22-year old suspect in this case. The two had been out clubbing the night before and got into an argument.
"They had been arguing over the suspect's girlfriend," said Stoll-Lee.
Residents of the complex were just finding out that their home was the center of a deadly dispute.
"It’s pretty nice. A lot of kids play out here. It's very family oriented," said Augie Medina, who lives at the complex.
Since this is an ongoing investigation, police have to play this one close to the vest in terms of releasing details.
"There are a lot of leads we still need to follow up on. As information becomes available and we can make it public we will, but right now this is what we have," said Stoll-Lee.
The Fresno County Coroner plans to do an autopsy on the victim either Sunday or Monday. After which, they'll release his name and an official cause of death.
