A Fresno community is still reeling from a violent afternoon.

A man was shot dead in a front yard.

Another is in custody.

It happened on the 4400 block of East Nevada Street in Southeast Fresno

Gunfire rattled the 4400 block of East Nevada Street at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

“I got off of work I came in and see a guy laying down in front of yard. and you say...wow...what can you do except call 911 you know,” said Sam Cheng.

Police discovered a Hispanic man in his 20s...shot several times on the front lawn of a house.

He died at the hospital.

“I said what's going on, they said...somebody's been shot-what happened?,”

Police arrested a Hispanic man in the house across the street.

They found him with a shotgun.

“The suspect is also at CRMC with cuts and we're still trying to determine what caused his cuts. We believe it may have been when he was breaking into a home,” said Lt. Mike Doyle.

This young man says he broke into his home...and terrorized his mother.

She's outside over there...sitting with the neighbors. i just want to go see her because they said he pointed the gun at her,” Edwin Orsorio.

Police say it's gang related.

They could be from different sects and we are determining that right now,” said Lt. Doyle.

Cheng says bad guys are moving in, bringing in a level of violence... he compares with his homeland.

“It's horrifying you know I escaped from the country that was violent as well. Cambodia. I'd been through that ordeal so when I came to this country it's almost the same thing in my backyard,” said Cheng.
