Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin hosted a town hall meeting Tuesday night at NorthPointe Community Church in Fresno.
The meeting was the first of three community gatherings the mayor is hosting over the next few weeks.
The mayor is focusing on the opportunities and challenges for the City of Fresno, which include stabilizing the city's finances and neighborhood revitalization.
Mayor Swearengin said, "I heard suggestions from residents as to how they can work together to improve their own neighborhoods, people talking about pitching in and fixing sidewalk repairs in front of their own homes, and working with the city to really deal with some challenges."
The mayor also touched on the city's streetlight problem and says additional funds are on the way to fix the lights but there's still about 3,000 of them that need to be repaired.
