Michael Wyatt is in the Fresno County Jail. He is being held on a felony parole violation. Clovis Police arrested the 35-year old transient near Buchanan High School after a driver reported him acting suspiciously.
“We very much appreciate that phone call,” said Janet Stoll-Lee of the Clovis Police Dept.
Wyatt, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was seen at Nees and Clovis Avenue watching little girls hunt Easter eggs. He was also spotted near Veterans Memorial Stadium staring at girls running on the track.
What officers found on him makes the story even more disturbing.
“They found lubricant, lotion, condoms and pornographic magazines in his pockets,” said Stoll-Lee.
“It’s sickening,” said Jill Brazeal.
Jill Brazeal is a concerned parent of Buchanan High students.
“I think the rules need to be tightened for this guy because something worse could happen with a guy like this who just doesn't get it,” said Brazeal.
Michael Wyatt is not a registered sex offender, but he is part of AB 109. Meaning the state allows him to be on supervised release rather than serve time in prison.
Records show he's been arrested nearly two dozen times the last nine months in Fresno, Clovis and Sanger.
Last June it was for masturbating in public. In December, for groping a woman at a gas station. A month ago, he was loitering on the Buchanan High School campus.
Cody Brazeal saw him that day he was arrested and was upset to hear about Wyatt’s history.
“You have all the people you care about, like my little sister who is a sophomore here at Buchanan, and you would never want anyone to put any of your friends or loved ones in harm,” said Cody Brazeal, a senior at Buchanan High School.
With a chance Wyatt could be get out of jail again, Clovis Unified School District has issued a trespassing warning.
“If anybody sees him out on any of the school campuses, we encourage those people to call Clovis Police Department,” said Stoll-Lee.
The state's parole board is working with the sheriff to try and keep Wyatt locked up as long as possible.
