The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday on East Montecito, near Kings Canyon and Chestnut.

Investigators say two men in their early 20s were sitting in their front yard drinking beer when two Hispanic men drove up in a black Chevy pickup possibly a 1999 or 2000 model.

The group started arguing, shouting words in Spanish at each other, then the men in the pickup fired shots at the other two.

They are now in the hospital and are expected to survive.  Something worth noting is one was of the victims was in a wheelchair.  A disability he received from being shot a previous time.

As for a motive is behind this shooting, officers say they have a hunch.

“Usually with gangsters it is retaliation.  It may not be something that happened last week; it could have been months ago that it happened.  So it's a strong possibility it's related to retaliation,” said Lt. Joe Gomez.

Gun violence is extremely high in the city right now.

In central Fresno Tuesday night, two other men got hit by bullets during a drive-by shooting.

A week ago in southeast Fresno, two groups of bulldog gang members got into a fight over some beer and one guy ended up getting shot in the foot.
