Black skid marks trace the path a Selma 6-year-old was dragged after being hit by a car Saturday night.

"I saw the red lights flashing and the police officers in the middle of the street and I knew something was wrong," said neighbor Henry Galvan.

It was only later that Galvan would learn a young boy had been hit and dragged nearly a block and by the time police arrived the driver was gone.

"When you have somebody who leaves the scene of a collision like this there could be any number of reasons, DUI is obviously one that is a possibility," said Selma Chief of Police Myron Dyck.

Police are currently looking for a light colored blue or gray van they think may been involved. And while the investigation continues, neighbors are trying to come to grips with what happened.

"For someone to just leave like that is just horrible," said Joann Castillo.

Police think the vehicle involved will likely have damage in the front and are asking anyone who may seen anything to please call the Selma Police Department at 896-2525.
