New snowpack numbers show we are slightly below the average for this time of year.
The water content is at 93% of normal.
Early storms dumped snow in November and December, but not much has fallen since then.
Frank Gehrke with the Department of Water Resources said, "Unfortunately, as we predicted or foresaw, we had very little storm activity during the month of January. We had a little bit January 6th and then some minor goings on last week."
Our reservoirs depend on the melting snowpack, which is where the state gets a third of it's water.
